Cooper takes helm of Saasu
Financial technology specialist Peter Cooper, has been appointed CEO of Saasu, a company previously known as NetApplica which offers integrated business applications delivered over the Internet. Cooper has been involved in the IT sector for more than 20 years during which he has worked for the Australian Stock Exchange, Rothschild, Macquarie Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Australian developer Cameron Systems, and Smarts Group.
At Saasu he replaced Marc Lehmann, founder of the company, who has become executive chairman.
SafeBoot kicks off Down Under
SafeBoot, a multinational that provides mobile data protection and access control technology, has launched an Australasian operation through offices in Melbourne and Sydney. The company has appointed David Jordan regional manager and has already scored sales to the Transport Accident Commission, KPMG, Dimension Data, Sensis, and the Australian Federal Police. Jordan has worked for Trend Micro, SurfControl, and Senteq Information Systems.
Ghosh runs security for LogicaCMG
Ajoy Ghosh has been appointed security practice manager of LogicaCMG. He will be based in Sydney. Ghosh has more than 15 years experience in information security and lectures at the Australian Graduate School of Policing, the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology, Sydney, the Santa Clara Law School, and the Centre for Transactional Crime Prevention.
Vignette expands channels team
Vignette Corporaiotn has appointed four channel account executives to its ANZ channel sales team.
Avron Welgemoed has been given responsibility for the northern region, including NSW, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. He has been with Vignette for a year, and previously worked for Interwoven in the UK and for Mercury EMEA.
Peter Bartnik, who has responsibility for the sourthern region, was previously with Computer Associates, prior to which he provided consulting services in Australia and North America.
Michael Dillon takes on the public sector. He has previously worked for Siebel, QAS and FileNet.
Darin McKay, who has responsibility for channel sales in New Zealand, has previously worked for Olivetti, Acer, BEA Systems, and Capital Technology in NZ.
Torokina builds executive team
Torokina, an Australian network performance and fault management specialist has boosted its executive team with two senior appointments.
John Ahern has joined the company as CTO, based in Sydney. He was previously Cisco's fault management product manager in the Asia/Pacific region, prior to which he was with Concord Communications Asia/Pacific.
David Snapp has been appointed vice president of professional services for Asia/Pacific and Japan. He will be based in Melbourne. Snapp joined Torokina from Lucent Technologies, where he was director of Lucent Worldwide Services ANZ.
Chiswell joins Colubris in sales role
Ross Chiswell has been appointed sales director of wireless networking specialist Colubris Networks. He previously ran his own company, Integrity Data Systems, which he sold to TR Corporation in 2005.
GlobalConnect expands Vic office
GlobalConnect Australia has appointed Trish McBride and Joanne Feehan account directors in its Melbourne office.
McBride was previously with Australian company VoIP, and she has also worked at Rockwell FirstPoint Contact, Memorex Telex, Lava Systems, and Karora Technologies.
Feehan was most recently at Macquarie Telecom, and also worked for RSL Com.

* Gail Burke has been appointed chair of Pentafin, an Australian developer of solutions for the wealth management sector. She has had a high profile career in IT, most recently as COO of BNP Paribas Securities Services in the UK. She also spent 20 years at Macquarie Bank, 12 of them as CIO.
* Ann Hegerty has been appointed southern region account manager for the public sector at Cognos. She was most recently with Computer Associates and has also worked for the Defence Housing Authority and the Department of Finance.
* John Thompson, a former managing director of WA wireless modem manufacturer Wavenet, has resigned from the company's board.
* Graeme Shearer has resigned from the board of Intermoco after more than six years as a director, and four years as chairman.
