Blinkhorn takes helm of country

Industry veteran Paul Blinkhorn has been appointed Australia country manager of Motorola, a position he will hold in addition to his current position as vice president of Motorola's enterprise mobility business, Australia and New Zealand, and Asia/Pacific channels. He is based in Sydney.

 

Big changes at Admerex

There have been a couple of significant changes at Australian software developer Admerex with the departure of both the CFO, Peter Carney, and the managing director of the EMEA region, Philip Stanning.

 

A statement released by the company noted that Carney, who had been involved in planning a restructuring of the company, was moving on because of that restructuring.

 

As an interim measure Christopher Rowbottom has taken responsibility for the EMEA region and will manage the company's search for a replacement for Stanning.

 

Head appointed to marketing venture

Lisa Watts has been appointed CEO of Advantate, a joint venture between Melbourne IT and Fairfax Digital that provides search engine marketing services to SMBs. She was previously general manager of MyCareer.com.au, before which she worked for online legal publishing company Lawlex. She has also worked for Sensis.

 

Lorenz leads Haley's export push

Heike Lorenz has been appointed vice president of global marketing for Australian company Haley, which until recently was known as RuleBurst. She will be based in Sydney.

 

Most recently Lorenz was with US company Insight, and she has also worked for Quickcut, and Wilcom.

 

Tennant joins Convergys

Max Tennant has joined the A/NZ subsidiary of US relationship management specialist Convergys as senior account executive. He was previously head of his own consulting firm, Acquire Asia/Pacific, prior to which he worked for Sitel Australia.

 

Rob Pieiga joins PolicyPoint

Rob Pieiga has joined PolicyPoint as service delivery manager. He was most recently with Link Group, prior to which he worked for KAZ Group.

 

Irvine takes seat on uni board

Glenn Irvine, principal account executive with Eos Solutions and secretary of Software Queensland, has been appointed to the ICT industry advisory board of Griffith University. In his role at Software Queensland Irvine is responsible for the events program and has spoken on industry opportunities for ICT students at secondary college futures advisory boards and at Griffith University's ICT faculty.

 

Playford appoints investment head

South Australian investment company Playford Capital has appointed Shane Cheek investment manager. He was previously with the Australian Institute for Commercialisation, where he most recently worked on strategies for companies in the automotive, medical device, energy, and mining sectors.

 

ESRI targets financial services

ESRI Australia -- a specialist in location intelligence -- has appointed Telma Cordeiro financial services industry business manager. She was previously with Pitney Bowes Mapinfo, and has also worked for Objective Corporation and Rational Software.

 

Around the Traps

*          Intercad has appointed Kerry Rice as New Zealand country manager. He was most recently with TalkingTech, and has also been a director of Integrated Business Consulting.

*          Shaun Kemp has been promoted to account director, government in Queensland, for SMS Management Technology.

*          Sean Wilkins, the director of commerce and finance at Tesco Telecoms in the UK, has been appointed a director of Freshtel. Tesco is a major investor in the Australian Internet telephony company.

*          Objective Corporation has appointed Nick Kingsbury a UK-based non-executive director. He serves on a number of boards, including the London Technology Fund, and has more than 20 years of experience in the ICT sector.

*          ICSGlobal has appointed Garry Chapman general manager of its UK subsidiary Thelma-EU. He was previously with TLCS Global Visa Services, and has also worked for US Web hosting company Exodus, and the software division of GE Capital IT Solutions as general manager.
