British retailer adopts Aussie pack

A planning solution from Australian company 3Q Holdings has been selected by Ann Summers, a British retailer that specialises in "glamorous lingerie and risqué accessories". The Island Pacific (IP) Planning software will be installed throughout the company's chain of stores and will be used to plan all channels -- retail, Web, franchise, and party plan, explained Stephe Wilks, recently appointed director of 3Q.

 

The contract covers the provision of software modules for merchandise, store, in-season, and assortment planning, and includes maintenance services, Wilks added. www.threeq.com.au

 

IBA has fix for Tongan hospital

Australian healthcare systems developer IBA Health has been selected to provide a Web-based hospital information system to the Tongan Ministry of Health. The system will be installed at the 190-bed Vaiola Hospital in Nuku'alofa and will provide a Web-based patient administration system with modules for outpatients, inpatients, medical records, theatres, maternity, A&E, billing, and results reporting.

 

"IBA's solution will also improve the Tongan ministry's capacity to collect, manage, and use health information effectively to assist future decision-making," said Gary Cohen, executive chairman of IBA. www.ibahealth.com

 

Web-based system for use in SA

Sydney software developer Emerging Systems has provided technology that will be used to integrate patient records across the South Australian public health system. The system will be introduced at the Lyell McEwen Hospital in A

 

The systems now used by nurses and midwives in South Australia are specific to each hospital and do not allow information-sharing across health sites, explained Russell Duncan, CEO of Emerging Systems. www.emerging.com.au

 

SA school tracks assets with Loc8

St John's Grammar School in South Australia has signed up as a user of Smartpath's Loc8 asset management system on a software-as-a-service basis. All of the school's furniture, IT, plant and equipment will be bar-coded to create a single asset solution for both facilities and the IT department, a spokesman explained. Aconex wins contract on home turf

Aconex has been awarded a contract to provide its online collaboration system to companies involved in the construction of Fairfax Media's $A110 million Melbourne headquarters, Media House. Grocon, the prime contractor on the development, is no stranger to Aconex, having used it previously on more than 60 Australian projects, noted Leigh Jasper, CEO of Aconex. www.aconex.com

 

Aussie tech guides fashion retailer

Victorian company Retail Directions has won a contract to provide an IT platform to manage the supply chain of Australian fashion label Herringbone. The system will manage the supply of all products from the design stage through to production and retailing, explained Andrew Gorecki, managing director of Retail Directions.

 

"The system from Retail Directions will be added straight into Herringbone's current accounting software without any configuration, simplifying the integration process," Gorecki added. www.retaildirections.com

 

Softlink spreads the word in Qld

Australian developer Softlink will provide its Oliver library management system to Brisbane Catholic Education for use in 133 schools between the Gold Coast and Hervey Bay. The software will replace a number of legacy systems, including Softlink's own Alice, and Oasis.

 

"The implementation of Oliver will allow BCE schools to manage their resources more effectively and provide the potential -- into the future -- for resource-sharing of electronic documents, books, multimedia, and other learning resources with other BCE schools," explained Bob Dunne, CEO of Softlink. www.softlinkint.com

 

SunCorp service customises cards

Queensland-based banking group SunCorp has adopted technology from British company Serverside to allow its customers to customise their transaction and Visa debit cards. Customers use Serverside's Card Skins system to upload their own images or select an image from a gallery. GBST wins new deal from Tolhurst

The Tolhurst financial services company has signed a three-year extension of its contract with GBST, an Australian provider of client accounting and securities transaction technology. The deal covers the continued provision of an integrated front-office and back-office processing system through the GBST Shares securities transaction processing solution. www.gbst.com

 

IBM to provide tolling on Qld roads

IBM has been awarded a contract to build an automated tolling system for use across the toll roads of South-East Queensland. *          Deloitte Ireland is implementing a secure access control system built on a certificate-based, two-factor authentication system from ActivIdentity, a company formed in 2005 by the merger of ActivCard and Canberra-based developer Protocom (Rust Report, July 29 2005, p1). The system will provide more than 900 Deloitte employees with secure remote access to IT systems at numerous Irish locations. www.actividentity.com

*          Australian managed services provider Cleartext has picked up a sale of its ClearEmail solution to SJB Management. One of the attractions of the system to SJB was the security, which was recently included in ClearEmail through an agreement with US company Webroot Software. www.cleartext.com.au

*          Servcorp, an Australian company that provides serviced and virtual offices, has implemented Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway devices to control spam on its international network. The Proofpoint devices replaced systems that had been unable to cope with the increasing flow of spam, a spokesman explained. www.proofpoint.com

*          Australian Web hosting company Melbourne IT has implemented Cloudmark Authority messaging security to protect its e-mail subscribers from messaging abuse. The system was provided by distributor eCorner. www.ecorner.com.au

*          FrontRange Solutions has been selected to provide its IT Service Management system to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. www.frontrange.com

*          The Telstra Super superannuation fund has selected a portfolio management system from Charles River Development, and also plans to use Charles River's Financial Information eXchange electronic trading technology. www.crd.com
