Keycorp cracks bank in Korea

In a welcome flurry of activity Australian payments processing specialist Keycorp has been selected to provide smart card systems to a major Korean bank, and a range of EFT-POS services to an Australian oil company.

 

Keycorp will provide the Korean bank with multi-application products, including a Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) application and a newly developed dual interface system that offers both contact and contactless operation on a single card.

 

On its home turf Keycorp has been awarded a managed services contract covering an EFT-POS network in petrol outlets around Australia, claimed Dr Ken Carr, managing director of Keycorp. The services, including the supply of terminals and help desk support, will be provided by Keycorp's services operation in Melbourne.www.keycorp.net

 

HarvestRoad wins Norway's defence

WA e-learning software developer HarvestRoad has been selected to provide its Hive digital repository system to the Norwegian Ministry of Defence (NoD). The product will be used to manage the learning resources of the ministry's Advanced Distributed Learning Centre (ADL), explained Grame Barty, managing director of HarvestRoad.

 

The signing of the perpetual licence with the ministry followed a six month evaluation of Hive, which culminated with the presentation of the pilot's outcomes to the NATO Training and Education Group Conference in Norway in mid-September. HarvestRoad was given the opportunity to demonstrate Hive to NATO members at the conference, Barty added.

 

"NoD's ADL is a leading contributor to NATO in the development of practices and standards associated with training and education," Barty said. "We expect to see a number of new opportunities emerge in this market as a result of this success." www.harvestroad.com

 

Aconex booked for Morocco resort

Australian company Aconex has been selected to provide its online information management service for use by the constructors of the Taghazout resort near Agadir in Morocco. Aconex's Web-based platform will be used to store and share project documentation and correspondence for the geographically dispersed project teams, explained Leigh Jasper, managing director of Aconex. "Through using Aconex, organisations working on the development will be able to view, distribute, and track all their documents and correspondence online at any time and from any location," Jasper said.

 

Morocco is an attractive new market for Aconex as the country is investing in infrastructure and tourism developments. "We are also servicing projects in Algeria, Libya, Egypt, and South Africa and believe there will be considerable opportunities for us in this region," Jasper added. www.aconex.com

 

Infomedia continues renewal run

After concluding a number of contract renewals with Ford subsidiaries around the world, Sydney company Infomedia has renewed a distribution agreement with Toyota Mexico. The new five-year deal covers the supply of the Microcat electronic parts catalogue and continues a relationship that began in 2002, explained Gary Martin, CEO of Infomedia.

Customers' ATMs service bank

Some 200 ATMs in a network installed at BP service stations and owned by Customers Limited are to be changed to carry the St George Bank brand. The deal, part of Customers' strategy to develop third party business opportunities, will increase the ATM network operated by the regional bank by about 20 per cent, claimed Greg Baker, executive chairman of Customers. www.customers.com.au

 

SA's GPs to adopt Aussie system

Australian software developer Working Systems Solutions has been awarded a contract to deploy its MHAGIC mental health system for South Australia's Divisions of General Practice Inc (SADI). The system will be installed in 13 of the 14 divisions in the state by the fourth quarter of this year.

 

"The installation of MHAGIC in all SA sites will enable the creation of an integrated health record for shared patients between general practice, divisions, and mental health services," explained Chris Seiboth, CEO of SADI www.ws.com.au

 

BQT video to light up Sydney buses

BQT Solutions has been awarded a contract to supply its intelligent video module for use on State Transit Authority buses in Sydney. The modules will complement closed circuit TV systems that are also being installed on the buses and will allow the STA to show revenue-raising advertisements on their security surveillance systems. www.bqtsolutions.com

 

Byte Power fires up e-kiosk network

Queensland company Byte Power Group has launched its first e-kiosks in the Chinese city of Chongqing. The first four kiosks are just the start of a major network that is expected to include more than 3000 sites around the city, a Byte Power spokeswoman said.

Zylotech has gallery covered

Australian surveillance specialist Zylotech has been selected to provide a digital surveillance system for the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. The Zylotech technology will be integrated into the gallery's existing system to allow gallery management to monitor and control live video from its numerous galleries.

 

"The secure virtual surveillance system is  able to combine third-party access control systems with distributed video processing, which is fundamental to the architecture of the overall system designed to accommodate the diverse security needs of the NGA," explained Nicholas Sikiotis, CEO of Zylotech. www.zylotech.com.au

 

Auction houses sold on Aussie tech

The SaleG8 software from Australian developer Myco Systems has been put to use by auction houses Deutscher-Menzies and Lawson-Menzies in the past month. A spokesman said the software reduced the time spent on administration and co-ordination. www.mycosystems.com.au

 

Swish extends Primus contract

Swish Torque Communications -- a subsidiary of Australian digital media specialist Swish Group -- has extended its marketing and sales service agreement with Primus Telecom. Under the terms of the deal Swish markets and sells Primus' fixed wire VoDSL and ISDN services.

Old timers may be well advised to make an immediate note in their diaries that Max Burnet's 14th annual Computer Old-timers Reunion Lunch will be held in Sydney on Friday November 2 starting at noon for 1:00. Tower pilots insurance system

Australian life insurance company Tower Australia is undertaking a trial of an automatic underwriting and rules system built on a platform from Irish company Allfinanz (www.allfinanz.com) using a rules set prepared by Munich Re. The system provides automatic underwriting decisions across the full range of retail life insurance products, a spokesman said.

 

"Our aim was to reinvent the end-to-end application process to reduce cycle time and hassle for customers and distributors," the spokesman added.

 

Broker adopts US platform

Cameron Stockbrokers has adopted the Summit broker client accounting system from US developer Broadridge, which was spun off ADP early this year. Cameron will use Summit to automate the processing life cycle of its equities for Australian and international traded securities. The system operates from trade capture to confirmation, position management, clearing house reporting, and settlement.
